Supporting, Empowering, Respecting Veterans And Their Families

S.E.R.V. Niagara assists veterans and their families in various capacities. As we are an all-volunteer organization, we rely on the participation, assistance and compassion of our dedicated volunteers to keep our much needed program in operation. S.E.R.V. Niagara is always in need of volunteers, veteran and civilian, to assist with community outreach, events, food deliveries, coordinating donation pick-up's, and more.
We are also welcome veteran mentors and compeers.

Community Outreach Volunteers

Community outreach volunteers may work with the Program Director to attract new partners, donors, volunteers, and help spread our name and cause throughout the community. Duties may also include identifying festivals and community events, as well as assising in staffing tables, distributing materials, and talking to people at those events.

Drivers & Deliveries

From time to time, the opportunity may arise when one of our veterans may need a ride to the VA Hospital after hours. This is a wonderful opportunity to support and assist a veteran in need and you can have a nice chat along the way.

S.E.R.V. Niagara accepts donations and sometimes it is required to pick up items and deliver to our storage facility or directly to those in need. We also need drivers to drop off and pick up our Food Drive bins from various locations. These items are brought back to our facility, sorted and distributed. Please note that heavy lifting may be required.

We are looking for Reasearch and Development interns to help us find and secure funding for our programs and projects. Responsibilities include:  Prepare grant applications/packages; Research prospects and analyze them to identify funding sources; Compile, write and edit persuasive proposals and follow grant-making guidelines; Review the budget of a project/program for which funding is sought; Keep in contact with grant-making organizations; Track foundation and/or corporate grants; Provide additional supportive material as needed; Prepare annual grant application schedule; Prepare and submit program reports.

High School Community Service Program for Graduation

Many high schools students are required to participate in community service programs prior to graduation. When students participate in such projects, not only does it engage students in the community and world around them, develop skills outside of the classroom and broaden their horizons, but it can enhance their attractiveness to college admissions and increase college scholarship opportunities as well.

In addition to offering community service opportunities for local high school students, we have also presented community service opportunites for civic and youth service organizations including the Girl Scouts, Brownies, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Church youth groups have also volunteered their efforts.

S.E.R.V Niagara is an all-volunteer organization. Although our internship opportunities to college students are unpaid, we are always willing, and more than happy to provide a glowing letter of recommendation for a successful intern. Internship opportunities include:

* Grant Writing
* Research and Development
* Social Work
* Public Relations
