Lockport, NY – S.E.R.V. Niagara is seeking to expand its Board of Directors and standing committees with individuals who share the Foundation’s mission to Support, Empower, Respect Veterans and their families.
Since 2014, the 501(c)(3) not for profit has been providing newly renovated, fully furnished, permanent housing for homeless and disabled Veterans and families in Niagara County. The Veteran-exclusive housing currently has properties located in Lockport, but that will change in 2018, as S.E.R.V. Niagara plans for expanding in to North Tonawanda in the coming months.
Additionally, S.E.R.V. Niagara offers a variety of services to Veterans and families, including a therapeutic fishing program, financial counseling and workshops in partnership with Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union, Thanksgiving and Christmas deliveries, as well as other outreach programs and services.
The emphasis on expanding our Board is open to those possessing strategic skills in business, finances, education, employment, property management, construction, fundraising, grant research and writing, PTSD, re-integration, substance abuse, and other clinical expertise. As S.E.R.V. Niagara is comprised of volunteers, it is critical to the success of our organization that we find the right blend of skillset, passion and commitment in furthering the mission to provide for the needs of our Veteran heroes.
Applicants are required to attend monthly board meetings and commit to 1 to 3 hours each week planning and implementing designated tasks. Board service is in increments of one year, with the option to serve consecutively.
Veterans and individuals with an understanding of the military lifestyle are preferred but not required.
